When Moor mud is harvested it takes several thousand years for Nature to replenish it. So technically it is not sustainable. However, since it has such wonderful therapeutic effects, we feel that it makes sense to harvest and utilize it as long as this is done in a responsible way. Harvesting of our moor mud is carefully controlled by Austrian state authorities to make sure that it is not depleted too quickly. In fact, at current rates it will last for several hundred years!

We are in the process of converting as many of our product containers as possible to biodegradable packaging. Rather than taking 500-1000 years for the plastic to decompose the new packaging will do so in less than 1 year. The biodegradable packaging is also recyclable so empty containers can be recycled in the normal way – but, if a container ends up in a landfill or even worse, in the ocean, it will quickly decompose.

We feel that Moor Spa is one of the greenest companies in the industry. With our commitment to non-toxic ingredients, outstanding product safety and biodegradable packaging we are leading the way in the field of eco-sensitivity and sustainability.

Moor Spa never tests on animals and we are “Leaping Bunny” certified. Almost all of our products are vegan friendly. No, it’s impossible to make a viable, complete spa product line using only organic ingredients. Our philosophy is that it doesn’t make any sense to create products which are only partially organic. Would you purchase an apple which was organic on one side but not on the other? Rather than trying to persuade consumers to buy only partially organic products, our commitment is to make our products 100% naturally derived – not 95% or even 99% as many companies advertise.

For most of our products we use a combination of propanediol (derived from corn) and caprylyl glycol (derived from coconut oil). This combination binds all of the water content in each product making it impossible for bacteria to grow. We also use a substance called natamycin (derived from yeast) which is very effective at preventing mold growth.

All products have a two year shelf life from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is included on every product. Products left in direct sunlight or in high temperatures or humidity may last a shorter length of time so it is advisable to ensure that they are kept in a location protecting them from these conditions if possible.

Our natural preservative system gives our products a 3 month usage period after opening. In many cases the products will last longer than 3 months after opening but we can’t guarantee this. We suggest using the products regularly in your routine so that they are used up within the 3 month period. In order to lengthen the shelf life and usage period after opening you can store the products in a fridg

In general, our products are safe for use during pregnancy. However, we strongly suggest that anyone who is pregnant should contact their healthcare provider for more specific advice.
